How a Bail Bond Works

When someone is arrested and held in a local jail for booking.  While awaiting their court date the person will be held in jail unless released on a bail.

Bail is an agreement made by a bail bonding agency makes on behalf of a defendant.  In Nashville a bail bonds agency arranges to have a suspect released from jail before their trial date in exchange for money or collateral.  The court sets the value of the bail.

The Nashville bail agent guarantees to the court that the defendant will show up in court every time they are required to be infront of the judge.  The bail is responsible for the defendant showing up in court.  If they do not show the bail bonds agency may hire a bounty hunter to track the fugitive down.  The bail bonds agency also has the right to sue the defendant for the money given to the court.
